New Moon in Virgo

No major planetary changes in the zodiac this week.
The New Moon will be on Friday, Sept 30, @ 14 deg Virgo. This marks the beginning of the Hindu Lunar Month of Asvina, named for the nakshatra (lunar sign) of the Full Moon, Ashvini, which will be on Oct 15. Except that this year, the Full Moon will fall in the previous nakshatra, Revati. Therefore the energy of the month takes on more of the attributes of Revati, a sign related to Travel, Communications, and Hospitality. Revati is considered good for Business Transactions, Religious Rituals, and Relaxation.
The New Moon is conjunct Jupiter, which is just a few degrees away @ 10 deg Virgo. The conjunction with Jupiter lends a more expansive, positive, hopeful quality to the energy of the month.

Venus Enters Libra, Mercury Retrograde Ends, Equinox

Mars enters Sagittarius today, Saturday Sept 17. Mars is happy in Sagittarius: strong for Self-expression, Fighting for one's Beliefs, etc. (see previous post).
Venus enters Libra on Sunday, Sept 18. Venus is happy to be in its own sign for the next four weeks. The planet of Romance in the sign of Harmony & Agreement promotes all Relationships. Venus in Libra is good for finding Compromise and Balance. Venus will not be under any malefic influence while in Libra. Venus stays in Libra until Oct. 13.
(more details on Mars & Venus in this week's video blog)
Mercury Retrograde Ends on Wednesday, Sept 21. The planet of Rational Thinking and Communications goes back to normal forward motion in the zodiac, @ 20 deg Leo. However, Mercury is now closely conjunct Rahu, the eclipse point, which obscures and distorts whatever it contacts. Therefore, Mercury significations are still not operating normally for another week, until Mercury gets some distance away from Rahu. Also: Rahu is an agent of Obsession; Mercury is the planet of Data. Rahu + Mercury =Being Obsessed with the Facts.
The Autumnal Equinox is on Thursday, Sept 22. Designated as the beginning of Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere, this is the time when the duration of Night and Day are equal. The Sun is crossing over the Celestial Equator; i.e., the midway point of the yearly extremes of its path in the sky. In Vedic Astrology this is considered to be a time of Transition, and therefore Weak for results. Therefore it is Not Recommended for starting new ventures on the day of, and before and after, the equinox.

Pisces Full Moon, Mars Enters Sagittarius

The Full Moon is on Friday, September 16, @ 0 deg Pisces. This marks the culmination of the energies of the Hindu lunar month Bhadrapada, named for the nakshatra (lunar sign) that the full Moon falls in: Purva Bhadra. The Full Moon will be nearly directly across from Jupiter, and thus will aid in manifesting Jupiter's significations of Optimism, Truth, Justice, Opportunity, etc.
Mars Changes Signs, entering Sagittarius, on Saturday, Sept 17. After spending most of 2016 in Scorpio (due to going through a retrograde period in that sign), Mars finally moves on in the zodiac. Mars is a fiery planet; Sagittarius is a fire sign. Thus the energy of Mars manifests strongly while in Sagittarius. Also, by moving into Sagittarius, Mars gets away from the inhibiting energy of its enemy Saturn, which will remain in Scorpio until the end of January. Mars in Sagittarius will emphasize the passion and enthusiasm of that sign. But Mars is also the planet of Combat; Sagittarius is known for Willfulness and Devotion to one's own Beliefs. Thus, the "true-believers" of whatever stripe, will get a boost from this transit. Mars remains in Sagittarius until October 31.

Mercury conjunct Jupiter, Mercury Retrogrades into Leo, Saturn Square Neptune

Retrograde Mercury is closely conjunct Jupiter most of the week. The planet of Ideas, Facts, Information, Explanations, etc. is not behaving normally, and simultaneously conjunct the planet of Expansion and Increase, resulting in Exaggerated False Reasoning. Jupiter is also the planet of Belief, Faith, Hope, etc. Therefore we have to be careful of blindly believing news reports, opinions, reasoning, etc.
Retrograde Mercury will "back into" Leo on Friday, September 9. By leaving Virgo, Mercury will no longer be conjunct Jupiter and Venus. However, since they are still in Mercury's sign, the retrograde condition of Mercury will continue to reflect on Venus and Jupiter. But the effects of retrograde Mercury will not be as intense when it is no longer associated with the two other planets.
Saturn is exactly square to Neptune this week. This slow-moving planetary pattern has been in play for the past few months, and is exact this week. The Reality-check planet is in an inimical relationship with the planet of Fantasy and Idealism, resulting in the popping of some bubbles. Saturn is also the planet of The Established Order; Neptune in Aquarius indicates Social Rebels & Revolutionaries. The two are at odds with each other.
