New Moon, Mars Conjunct Saturn, Mercury Enters Virgo

The New Moon will be on Monday, Aug 25, @ 8 deg. Leo. This marks the beginning of the Hindu lunar month Bhadrapada, named for the nakshatra that the Full Moon falls in, Poorva Bhadra, on Sept 8. This month has a nasty reputation for disasters. A few examples from past years: the 9-11 Event, Hurricane Katrina, the 2008 Financial Meltdown. This year the New Moon will be opposite to Neptune, and the Full Moon will conjoin with Neptune, in Aquarius. The lunar energy is tainted by the planet of Fantasy & Confusion.  This lunar month is "born" on the same day that Mars and Saturn are exactly conjunct. For all these reasons, the energy of the next four weeks is suspect; it is not considered to be a good time for beginning important new projects.
Mars and Saturn are exactly conjunct Monday, Aug 25, @ 23 deg Libra. The tension produced by combining the energy of these two antagonistic planets is at its peak. Mars + Saturn = Force +Control. The two planets have been getting closer and closer together in Libra through the past month, and will begin to separate later this coming week. Finally, on Sept 4, Mars will leave Libra, breaking up a planetary combination that has brought a lot of crisis in world events.
Mercury enters Virgo on Friday, August 29. The planet of Rational Thinking will be in its own sign Virgo for three weeks, until Sept 20. Mercury is also considered Exalted in this sign. Therefore the significations of Mercury are strengthened: more Rationality, more Reasonableness, more reliance on Facts & Data.
