Mercury conjunct Rahu, Mercury changes Signs

This week Mercury will be together with Rahu; the exact conjunction is on Wednesday, Feb. 3, @ 26 degrees Sagittarius. This puts the planet of Thinking together with the significator of Obsession= Obsessive Thinking. It is also in a fire sign, Sagittarius, known for "sticking to its guns", i.e., not readily influenced by another point of view. The result is similar to Mars opposite Combust Venus, still in progress (see previous post), which is also adverse to coming to agreements.
Mercury leaves Sagittarius and enters Capricorn Friday, Feb. 5. This will bring some improvement to Mercury's significations, since Capricorn is a earth sign interested in achieving practical results. However, while transiting through Capricorn Mercury will be afflicted by the opposition of Retrograde Mars in Cancer, the planet of Action moving Backwards vs. the planet of Reason= practical thinking opposed by retarded action. This energy pattern will intensify in the 2nd week of February when the opposition becomes more exact.
Venus will be coming out of combustion as it pulls away from the Sun in the coming week, becoming visible again as the "Evening Star" on the Westerly Horizon immediately after Sunset. Venus will also be changing signs, Saturday, Feb. 6, and thereby escape from the influence of Mars: the significations of Venus will improve after next week, agreements are easier to arrive at, Financial Markets improve, etc.

Mars Opposite Venus, Uranus Enters Pisces, Full Moon conjunct Mars

Venus is exactly opposite to Mars on Tuesday, January 27. Venus is simultaneously combust (conjunct the Sun). The significations of Venus continue to suffer during the coming week: expect more problems in the Financial Sector and in the Markets; Agreements and Negotiations can't make any progress; Celebrities may suffer as well. Mars, the planet of Anger, in Cancer, the sign of the Public, is opposite to Venus, the planet of the Financial Sector: the public expresses its anger at Wall Street; the politicians react in Washington. Mars is still retrograde, which creates a buildup of Pressure and Frustration. But since Mars, the planet of Action, is still "moving backwards" until March 10, no real progress is made at this time.
The Full Moon will be Friday night, January 29, @ 16 degrees Cancer. This marks the culmination of the energies of the lunar month Magha. This Full Moon will be within 1 degree of Mars, in its own sign Cancer, and therefore has the potential for High Emotion, as well as the Potential for Destruction: the Full Moon can make the pressure-cooker effect of Mars retrograde suddenly "blow." Events connected to the Full Moon-Mars conjunction can begin as early as Thursday night, when the Moon enters Cancer. The Full Moon-Mars conjunction is also exactly conjunct Rahu in the 8th house of the USA chart: there will be some interesting developements late in the week signaling a transformation for this country.
Uranus enters Pisces on Wednesday, January 27. The planet of Sudden Events, as it changes signs, creates more Potential for Instablity during its transition (as has already been apparent in the past week). Uranus in Pisces will be opposite to Saturn in Virgo: the planet of Revolution opposes the planet of The Established Order. In the chart of the USA, Uranus will be transiting through the 4th house, representing the Opposition Party, and opposite to Saturn in the 10th house, the planet of Structure in the house of the Party in Power: the Democrats feel threatened by the Disruption caused by the Republicans (such as the recent Massachusettes election). The opposition of Uranus and Saturn becomes more exact as we progress into the summer months. Uranus will be in Pisces for 7 years, until 2017.

Venus Combust and Opposite Mars, Haiti Earthquake

Venus has entered Capricorn, and is opposite to Mars which is transiting on the other side of the zodiac in Cancer. Mars, the planet of "attack" creates a problem for Venus. The exact opposition of Venus and Mars will be on January 26. Venus is also still within a couple of degrees of the Sun, i.e., deeply combust, for the next two weeks. Therefore, the significations of Venus are thoroughly "hammered" through the rest of January.
The tight conjunction of Venus with the Jan. 15 Solar Eclipse indicates coming Change to the significations of Venus. The Financial Sector continues to experience trouble, exemplified by the Federal Investigation into what happened to create the financial crisis. President Obama's proposal of a tax on the bailed-out banks and public anger over the huge bonuses paid to bank executives are additional indicators. Another signification of Venus is that it is the planet of Sex and Marriage: an important trial is under way in San Francisco which seeks to determine the constitutionality of States regulating same-sex marriage.
The retrograde condition of Mars keeps generating a pressure-cooker type of Tension, which seeks a release, not just in human affairs, but in the Earth itself, as evidenced by recent destructive events. The retrograde condition of Mars continues until March 10.
The Earthquake in Haiti occured just after the Moon entered Sagittarius, adding its energy to the imbalance of so many planets congregated in that sign earlier in the week (see previous post). This point of the zodiac is the juncture between a water sign and a fire sign, and considered unstable; it is called gandant. In the lunar zodiac the Moon was in the nakshatra Moola, which is associated with the Hindu goddess Nritti, the goddess of Destruction.
Jupiter transiting in Aquarius,is moving closer to the natal Moon of the USA chart, and along with Neptune in Aquarius, in the 3rd house of Neighbors, precipitates the impulse of Humanitarian Idealism of the public in response to the tradegy in Haiti. The exact conjunction of Jupiter with the USA natal Moon will be January 23.

Venus enters Capricorn, Saturn turns Retrograde, Mercury goes Direct, New Moon and Solar Eclipse

There is still a mob of planets in Sagittarius for the first part of the week: Pluto, Mercury, Venus, Sun, and Rahu, joined by Moon Wednesday and Thursday. This makes for powerful Sagittarian energy: everyone devoted to their own viewpoint and not likely to back down too easily. Therefore best to stick with people with whom you already have a lot in common.
Wednesday, January 13, Saturn will begin its retrograde period @ 10 degrees Virgo. The planet of Structure going backwards in the Heavens for the next several months suggests "re-structuring". It is in the 10th house of the USA chart, so there's a strong chance of the government, or at least the ruling party (i.e. the Democrats) having to in some way go through a restructuring. Saturn is also the planet of Restriction, and Virgo is Details, which leads to a general energy pattern of Being Limited by the Details.
Thursday, January 14, Venus enters Capricorn. The planet of Art, Beauty, Love, Agreements, and Finances usually does well in this sign of sober Practicality, but Venus is in Deep Combustion, i.e., exactly conjunct the Sun during this ingress, and therefore its significations are "burnt up" for the next couple of weeks.
The New Moon will be early Friday morning, Jan. 15 (East Coast of USA, Thursday before midnight on West Coast) @ 1 degree Capricorn. This begins the Lunar Month of Magha, the energy of Doing Big Projects, Going forth to Conquer the Enemy, and Dealing with Authority. However, remember that Mars is still Retrograde, so initiating important new projects is not recommended (see previous posts).
This New Moon is also a Solar Eclipse (not visible in the USA), indicating potential for Big Changes coming up. Venus is within a degree of the New Moon. The significations of Venus will be affected: likely big changes coming up in various ways in the Financial Sector, Aggreements and Treaties, the Arts and Celebrities.
Mercury goes Direct on Friday, January 15, @ 11 degrees of Sagittarius. The planet of Communications, Business Transactions, Rational Mind, etc. will now return to its normal motion in the Heavens and the situation re Delays, Snafus, Miscommunications, etc. will improve over the coming week. Mercury will still be in Sagittarius until the first week in February.
Note: Apologies to All Readers who missed last weeks' blog... must have hit the wrong button on the computer or something... a typical Mercury Retrograde event.
