Mercury and Venus Change signs

Tuesday, November 27, Mercury leaves Libra and enters Scorpio. Scorpio is the sign of secrets and investigations. Mercury, the planet of rational mind, communications, and business deals, adapts itself to Scorpio with more investigations and digging for the true data. The downside can also manifest: secret communications, hiding the truth, being too clever with the business deals.
While Mercury is transiting through Mars' sign Scorpio, Mars, in retrograde motion, is in Mercury's sign Gemini. This is a parivatna yoga; an exchange of sign rulership, creating a sambandha, a tight relationship, between Mars and Mercury. When Mars retraces its steps in the Heavens it indicates going back over past actions. This energy feeds the Mercury in Scorpio detective work over the next three weeks, until December 16. The downside is that Mars, retrograde in Gemini, is impatient, and tends to build up negativity that needs to be released, resulting in mishaps, mistakes in communication, fights, arguments, etc.
Friday, November 30, Venus leaves Virgo and enters Libra. Libra is a sign ruled by Venus, thus the significations of Venus over the coming four weeks, until December 25, are strengthened. The problems of November, where opposing parties coming to agreements has been so unproductive, will improve in December. Venus in Libra wants Harmony, and believes sacrifice is necessary to achieve harmony.
Meanwhile, Jupiter having now entered Sagittarius (see previous post) is interested in Truth and Justice. Both Venus and Jupiter are considered benefics in Vedic Astrology, and since they are in their own signs, they are strengthened, and promise some relief during the coming weeks.

Jupiter Enters Sagittarius, Full Moon in Taurus

November 21, Wednesday, Jupiter leaves Scorpio and enters Sagittarius. Jupiter takes about a year to transit through a sign, and will be journeying through Sagittarius until early December,2008. In Vedic Astrology, Sagittarius is one of the signs that Jupiter 'rules.'Therefore, the significations of Jupiter, as well as Sagittarius, will be enhanced during the coming year. Sagittarius, and Jupiter, are strongly disposed torwards manifesting Beliefs and Philosophies, and since this is a fire sign, the beliefs are personal. Sagittarius fights for Truth and Justice, but again, it's from a personal viewpoint. So there's a lot of energy in the coming year for standing up for what you believe to be true. Since humans tend to not agree on things, we can expect that the coming year promises more conflict due to conflicting religious, moral, and philosophical beliefs of various groups. (for more on Jupiter in Sagittarius, get the current issue of our newsletter)
The Full Moon this month will be in Taurus, Saturday morning, November 24. Since the Moon is considered exalted in Taurus, this is a powerful full Moon. Strong lunar energy is considered to be somewhat unmanageable, so it is best not to plan to do anything of importance where the you want to control the outcome. Taurus is a sign of strong material manifestation, and satisfaction of the senses. Perhaps indulging in a big delicious Friday night dinner would be appropriate (think: Turkey Dinner), or going out and buying something expensive.

Mars goes Retrograde

Thursday, November 15, Mars goes retrograde at 18 deg. Gemini. Mars will be retrograde until January 30. "Retrograde" is the apparent backwards movement of a planet due to our planet Earth moving ahead of the other planet while both are traveling in their concentric orbits around the Sun.
In Astrology, when a planet is retrograde, the normal expression of that planet's energies have difficulty manifesting. The significations of Mars will suffer over the coming 11 weeks. Since Mars' energy is the essence of getting things started, any projects begun during this time will run into problems and delays. The birth chart of the endeavor will have a retrograde Mars in it, meaning that the entire life of the project will likewise be plagued with delays.
Mars retrograde periods are favorable for finishing up projects that don't have much further to go. It is also a favorable time for going through the planning stage of a project, waiting until February before actually moving forward.

New Moon, Venus-Mercury Exchange Signs

The New Moon occurs Friday, November 9, at 23 degrees Libra. This marks the start of the lunar month called Karttika, named for the nakshatra (lunar sign) Krittika, that the Full Moon will fall in (Nov.24). This lunar month carries the energy of Krittika, one of the lunar signs associated with the military, and is thus considered favorable for launching campaigns, especially where force is necessary, such as overcoming one's enemies.
But this year there will be a problem beginning new projects during this lunar month, because Mars will be turning Retrograde on Novemeber 15, making the energy adverse for new endeavors (see current issue of Newsletter for article on Mars retrograde).
Mercury enters the sign Libra, Sunday, November 4. Mercury in the sign of Harmony is generally good. However this month, Venus, the planet ruling Libra, is in Mercury's sign Virgo (see previous post). Thus Mercury and Venus are in each other's signs, a combination called parivatna yoga in Vedic Astrology. Since Venus is debilitated in Virgo, the exchange of sign rulers will weaken both the significations of Mercury as well as Venus. Mercury rules Business Transactions; Venus rules Finances and Value. Thus the month of November will be prone to problems in the Financial Markets, and making mistakes when dealing with the Value of Purchases. Likewise, attempts at attaining Harmony, reaching Agreements, Treaties, etc., will run into trouble.
